FAMILY: Liliaceae
GENUS: Hosta
Awesome is what I would say if I only had one word to use to describe this variety. It has these light bluish-green leaves of kind of a leathery texture that grow in a vase shape. They can grow to about 40” tall with a spread of about 48”, depends on how big your clump gets before you divide it. It has lavender blooms on spikes that can shoot up as high as 6 feet! It is the recipient of the Eunice Fisher Award in 1974. This Hosta was brought from Japan by Gus Krossa, where he bought it, and registered by and registered by Alex Summers in 1980. It is thought to be a hybrid, perhaps by Fisher, and has not produced any viable seeds. Hosta ‘Regal Splendor’ is a sport of H. ‘Krossa Regal’.
This was one of my first Hosta varieties in 1981. I believe that the ‘Krossa Regal’ would be a focal point in any garden!
