This page is still under construction. Under this page are sub-pages representing the many factories in and around Stoke-on-Trent, England that made many of the porcelain pieces in Suzanne’s collection.
One thing I need to mention before I start research on Stoke-on-Trent, is that at one time, more than 4,000 bottle kilns were scattered throughout this area… Somewhere around 1,500 factories, all using the abundance of coal mined from the area. The air quality was TERRIBLE, and the sky was black nearly all of the time. The coal smoke seeped into peoples homes and businesses through the cracks in the doors and windows. A sheet of coal ash covered everything outside.
I will also add some historical information of the area as soon as possible. You will really be fascinated, as I am, about the history of Stoke-on-Trent!
The history of some of these companies will take you through being founded and managed by the same families for several generations. Some of the companies are still in business.
