There are two marks on this plate, one is a mark that says Coronet, the other says AD, both from Limoges, France. I will write information on these companies as soon as I have time. Here are the pictures of the plate, and the marks.
George Borgfeldt was born in Meldorf, Germany in 1833. He came to America in 1855, then in 1861, started a trading company in Nashville. He moved to New York in 1881 and founded the Borgfeldt Trading Company. He had decorating studios in Germany and Paris, plus he also imported pottery from Czechoslovakia. Most of the porcelain that was decorated at his Paris studio was made in Limoges.
His studios were well known for richly decorated plaques and collector plates, many signed by the artists.
His Coronet mark was used on his porcelain wares from Limoges as well as pottery from Czechoslovakia. One of his marks says “Coronet Registered Czechoslovakia.”
I have not found any information on the other mark so far. Apparently the other mark belongs to the factory that made this particular saucer and sold it to the Coronet studio in Paris, France where it was decorated.
