Fenestraria rhopalophylla subsp. aurantiaca ‘Baby Toes’
This neat little succulent is in the Aizoaceae family. It grows to about 6 inches tall. The little “toes” look like they have eyeballs on top of them. I have read more information about the “eyeballs” somewhere but I don’t remember where. When I find out I will update. They are hardy from zones 9a-11 (20-40 degrees F). You need to protect them from frost, as with most succulents. They produce white to creamy white blooms from mid-summer-fall.
They prefer to grow in sun to part shade. I would recommend morning sun during the heat of the summer or filtered light. Water thoroughly when dry, but do not over water, in warmer temps. Avoid to much water in cooler months or they could rot. If you need to transplant into a larger pot, make sure the succulent has filled up the pot pretty well and increase pot size by only ½ inch. Use professional soilless mix specially formulated for cacti and succulents.
