Aloe ‘Lizard Lips’ [(A. descoingsii x A. calcairophila) x A. bellatula]
This really nice 3-way hybrid was developed by John Bleck, master Aloe hybridizer. It is a member of the Aloaceae family and is hardy in zones 10a-11 (30-40 degrees F). Information says they can handle full to part sun, partial to light shade. You may want to avoid putting them in full sun if they aren’t used to it, because they could turn brown. It is going to be a smaller variety, reaching 6 inches in height, but it is supposed to multiply nicely. It has a rough yellow-green knobby leaf surface, hence the name ‘Lizard Lips’. It produces long blooming racemes with bright pink flowers (one website says orange!). They make a great potted house plant.
Like most succulents, they like a good thorough watering when they are dry, but they are drought tolerant. When transplanting, they do better in a professional soilless mix specially formulated for cacti and succulents.

When I bought my lizard lips aloe, it was mostly dead. It had 2-3 babies already and was in such a small pot! Immediatly after I bought it, I moved it into a bigger pot and gave it lots of water. It was brown and overnight it got some green going through it’s leaves! This plant’s ability to recover and live through alot is amazing, I know my aloe and this one looks promising!!
Kat,
I have enjoyed my ‘Lizard Lips’ as well. Mine had 11 babies. I removed 3 or 4 about a month ago because they were getting pretty big. I was at a local nursery a few days ago and noticed an Aloe I need really bad! It has rough leaves similar to the ‘Lizard Lips’! Thanks for visiting the Mystical Mansion and Garden Blog.
