Over the past several months I have been cleaning the house and the windows. When I first started, I complained about how filthy everything was. The grease on the walls, ceiling, and the cabinets in the kitchen was so thick it nearly had to be scraped off. The windows all around the house looked as though that had not been cleaned in 20 years (or longer) and the painters had left the paint on the glass (as well as the varnish on the inside). I have spent months working on all the windows on the first floor… Now they have all been cleaned on the inside and I just have a few to go on outisde. Actually, I have to re-clean them because I had kind of gotten a little tired (A LITTLE!!!) of cleaning all these windows. I decided to just use Dawn Dish Soap and just rinse off the windows… Well, now I have a sunroom with streaky windows.
I guess I am appologizing for complaining about the former occupants not cleaning the windows and leaving such a mess of paint on them. I would imagine they became overwhelmed, frustrated, tired, and bored with the whole idea! Well, the first floor is done and you can forget me getting on a ladder for the second story! NOW the windows need to be re-puttied and painted! OH, and the spiders just build new webs that have to be continually removed. Once I get all finnished, I just have to start over again.
Delightful, sounds just like me.
Bink,
It seems to be a never ending thing! I have gotten all the way around the house, inside and out, on the first floor. I have also cleaned the glass on the inside… Now I am working on the windows between the landing and the back sunroom on the second floor. Now I notice that the first windows I cleaned in the back of the house are loaded with spider webs. SO, I have to clean them again. Any ideas on how to keep the spiders off the windows?
Spiders hates these things, Lemon Pledge, Hedge Apples, Eucalyptus Leaves ,Etc.. After reading lots of tips, This one was learned from the man who trained the spiders for the movie “Arachnophobia”. Dust both sides, window sills and doorframes, other areas, with lemon pledge. Spiders have their taste buds on the tips of their legs. They also hate the taste of Lemon Pledge.
The spiders will find they don’t want to live with you. Let me know when you try the Lemon Pledge,
I want to have mine dusted, too. This has not been my personal experience. Is there something else I can do?
Bink,
Thanks for the tip! I wonder if I can buy Pledge in a 55 gallon drum so I can spray the entire house…Inside and out!
Hello, Mystical Mansion! Sorry to abandon you, but my (13 yrs) Dachshund sick until (Dec. 20). Starting a blog on (wordpress.com) in her Memory ( called Loving Miss Belle). Do you still have spiders?…….if so…. you won’t find Lemon Pledge in 55 gallon drum……(At least not in our Lifetime). A new cleaner (to me) called Orange Blast (Lowe’s) do you still have to clean? (Delightful). More reading tips on Spiders & Cleaning. This has not been my personal experience. Is there something else I can do?
scarlett22,
Very sorry to hear about your friend of 13 years being sick. I will have to visit your blog…is it ready yet? The cooler weather has helped control the spiders in the windows. I haven’t had much problem with them in the house lately either. I am sure they will beack in full force come this spring! Keep in touch and good luck with your blog.
